Iseul has a complicated past, and even through the first book of the Dyvinian series, Of Dusk and Honeycomb, he isn't really sure who he is.
We meet him when he's indebted to Laurel after 200 years of being tied to a thieving ring. Laurel and Maxim are incredibly cruel to him, though he eventually joins Ozias's troop due to the likes of Piam. Throughout the series, our stoic Giant-Drow discovers more about his family, what it means to be a brother, and what it means to heal-- both himself and others.
Some additional facts about Iseul:
He loves all things sour, but his favorite food is limes.
He's a quarter Giant from his mother's side, and three-quarters Drow between both his parents.
He was taught thieving, pickpocketing, and fighting as a young boy by a thief from the North, Woodward.
